Maintenance Material Coordinator (MMC)

Location: Mosaic K2 Mine Site
Schedule: 9/80 Schedule
Start Date: As soon as possible
Overtime: Eligible
Compensation: Negotiable based on experience

Position Summary

The Maintenance Material Coordinator (MMC) is responsible for ensuring all maintenance materials required to support planned and reactive maintenance activities are available when needed. This role focuses on material verification, procurement, sourcing, expediting, inventory support, and coordination between maintenance, production, and warehouse teams.

The MMC plays a key role in minimizing downtime by proactively managing maintenance materials and providing support for both day-to-day operations and turnaround activities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Monitor upcoming work orders in PREP status to ensure purchase orders have been issued for required materials.
  • Track material delivery timelines and expedite orders when necessary.
  • Communicate potential delays or schedule impacts to Area Coordinators.
  • Ensure delivery updates and scheduling impacts are reflected within the CMMS.

Daily Coordination

  • Meet with Production Coordinators each morning to identify potential reactive maintenance requirements requiring material support.
  • Coordinate urgent procurement activities as operational needs arise.

Reactive Maintenance Support

  • Source and procure non-stocked parts required for reactive work orders.
  • Coordinate expediting activities to ensure timely delivery to site.
  • Create project requests for emergency work requiring maintenance capital funding.

Inventory Management

  • Assist the Lead Planner with slow-moving and non-moving inventory evaluations.
  • Review MRO procurement reports and monitor anticipated deliveries.
  • Follow up on outstanding requests and expedite materials as required.
  • Monitor rebuildable spares sign-out and core return processes.
  • Communicate with area personnel regarding core return expectations.
  • Process MRO change requests for consumables and general inventory items.
  • Audit Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) locations and recommend adjustments as required.
  • Retrieve critical parts from nearby off-site locations when practical (within approximately 60 minutes of site).

Turnaround Support

  • Assist with turnaround planning and material coordination activities.
  • Support consumable ordering, tool crib coordination, and other turnaround-related requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Support

  • Mentor and coach frontline supervisors on work order searches and Bill of Material (BOM) navigation.
  • Monitor spare parts inventories maintained outside of warehouse-controlled inventory.
  • Support BOM accuracy and recommend improvements to CMMS hierarchy and asset structures.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance planning, materials coordination, inventory management, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance processes within industrial, mining, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • SAP experience would be considered an asset.
