Journeyperson and Apprentice Millwrights / Industrial Mechanics

THOAR Mining provides a wide variety of services in the support and operation of mining, ranging from project management, supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and mining equipment operation.

We have an immediate need for highly motivated, safety conscious Journeyperson and Apprentice Millwrights / Industrial Mechanics for an underground Potash project with our client at Vanscoy, SK (near Saskatoon, SK). These positions are on a temporary contract basis with the possibility of an extension or transition to other projects.

You will need to be available to work 12 hour days and nights on a 4-5-5-4 rotation.

 Responsibilities:

• Communication and cohesive alignment with other departments in the mine;
• Servicing, maintenance and repair of underground mechanical systems and underground equipment including Mining machines including Alpine AM50, Drumcutter, Flexiveyor, Low Pro Miner, Scoops, skid steer and associated equipment;
• Diagnose and troubleshooting breakdowns;
• Maintain and support equipment records and repair history;
• Provide data for cause and failure analysis;
• Take part in planning and scheduling within the work system.

Qualifications:

• Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship & Trade Certification Commission as a Journeyperson Millwright / Industrial Mechanic is preferred, fourth year apprentices will also be considered;
• Valid GMSA - General Mine Safety Awareness training;
• Valid First Aid/ CPR certificates;
• Valid WHMIS and SCOT;
• Underground work experience is preferred;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Experience with underground equipment is considered mandatory;
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record;
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt to tight deadlines.

 Client Requirements:

• Proof of full vaccination will be required;
• A pre-employment drug and alcohol test will be required.
